More than 15,000 Nurses had Registered Online for the RN Heals Program Posted: 19 Jan 2011 04:20 PM PST According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE), as of 1:42pm last Tuesday, a total of 15,858 online applicants had registered for the RN Heals employment program. DoLE spokesperson Nicon Fameronag said that this figure is just after one day and a half of launching the program and it does not even include the walk-in applicants in the regional offices. Last year some 5,000 to 6,000 nurses were hired by the government for a period of six months under the NARS program. This time the RN Heals project will employ 10,000 nurses for a period of 1 year. The government would begin deploying the nurses by February 11, 2011. According to the statistics, there are an estimated 100,000 unemployed nurses in the Philippines.
