Pinoy nursing grads go for Medicine Posted: 22 Aug 2010 08:31 PM PDT The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has reported that there is an increase in the number of Pinoys entering medical schools. This is apparently due to the decline in the demand for nurses overseas. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) informed the PRC of the inversely proportional relationship in the numbers of those taking the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT), the entrance exam that is taken to be able to enter medical schools here in the Philippines, and the continuing slump of students vying for nursing schools. There are also reports that many nursing grads are pursuing medicine because of difficulty in landing jobs as nurses.
